The work is often criticized for being violent, however that is not the intention at all. The use of a power tool to make line work is simply the replacement of a paintbrush. The using a power tool, I can successfully capture the essence of spontaneity and the unknown for both are characteristics of destruction. The circular cuts are a mere homage to John Baldessari, tributing his painted circles on the faces of his subject matter. Overall the pieces' intentions are to create and environment of ambiguity, closely reflecting the reality of the love hate relations of the celebrity in contemporary western culture. The viewer is free to side if they love of hate them, my view however is irrelevant. Bethanny was the birth of the project for as her being the subject matter, she is responsible for the most successful pieces.
